Vaspasian

Vespasian AD 9-79

Vespasian was the Roman Emperor from AD 69-79. As such, he was also called Caesar Vespasianus Augustus.
His original full name was Titus Flavius Vespasianus.

The years 68-70 were turbulent ones and a time of civil wars in the Roman world.
The emperors Nero, Galba, Otho, and Vitellius, had been cut off successively by violent deaths.
Vespasian was able to bring about some political stability.

Also during his reign, Vespasian saw the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans under his son Titus. The year? AD 70.
With Flavia Domitilla, Vespasian had another son, Domitian.

Both his sons, Titus and Domitian, became future Roman emperors.

Also under Vespasian, construction of the Colosseum (coliseum) was begun sometime between AD 70 and 72.
It took until AD 80 for the coliseum to get dedicated, which it did under Titus and with a hundred days of games.
