Helen Keller

Helen Keller 1880-1968
Helen Adams Keller was born in Alabama.
When she was 19 months old, she became blind, deaf, and mute due to an illness.
When she was 6 years old, she was brought to Anne Sullivan, a teacher for the blind.
Together, the two ladies accomplished astonishing things.
Equally amazed was Hollywood and made a movie out of Helen Keller's life, focusing on Anne Sullivan's point of view.
The Miracle Worker, 1962, won both actresses, Anne Bancroft as Annie Sullivan in a leading role and Patty Duke as Helen Keller in a supporting role, one Oscar each. Costume design, director, and screen writer were also nominated.
