What is wrong with the work force today?

I swear people get their jobs these days just turning on a faucet. They have no idea how to do their jobs! It is once again time for a vent session. Bear with me please.

My husband and I are struggling a bit right now but we make sure the bills are always paid on time no matter what. We try our best to keep our credit good. Now with that being said.....

For the last two days I have gotten a phone call telling me a payment was never received. Even though I put two checks into an envelope (one for my husbands account and another for my hubbies). They have both cleared the bank a week ago, They tell me they got the payment for my husbands account but not for mine. I have to show them proof that I sent the check to them. (remember I said, they already cashed it)

We live in the boonies and the bank is only open 3 days a week. So I now have to wait until tomorrow to go down and get a copy of the check to send to them. It usually takes a week to process anything. They are raising my bill now because they have no proof of payment.

Are we teaching idiots for these jobs? I talked to a supervisor too. She said not to send both payments in the same envelope even though they are due at the same time and go to the same place. (I have sent them in the same envelope for the past two years and never had any trouble until now) And I will continue to send it the same way.

What do you think?

  1. So frustrating! It makes logical sense to send the two payments together, but it seems on the other end they can't process it that way. It might be worth the price of an extra stamp and send the payments in 2 different envelopes. Might be less hassles down the road. I think people have lost their ability to reason and just train to do the minimum, if even that.

    1. I went to the bank to get a copy of the check. They entered it in their system as a AHC Debit, Now there is no check to copy. I had to fax over what I could to them this morning.

  2. I think the supervisor was doing the psychological babble bit of switching the blame back to you. I assume you always put the correct account number in the memo section of each check. Someone mis-keyed the account number most likely.

There are many doing jobs nowadays they are just barely capable of doing, if at all. I blame it on hiring managers that think that a yes to do you know such and such software means they are capable. No software can be used correctly without attention to detail and an understanding of the data you are putting in it.

    1. I had to end up faxing them everything. I could not get a copy of the check because they inserted it as an AHC Debit. What a mess this has turned out to be.
