Update here:

I am elbows deep in cleaning out my mother-in-laws house. The water has been turned off to the place so I am hauling knickknacks and dishes back and forth to wash them. There were heavy smokers in there years ago and the nicotine has to be washed off everything that sat around. There is a community yard sale in the village coming up this month on the 18th. We are on the list so wish us luck in selling as much as we can to empty this house. I am guessing it will be several sales before all of it is gone. This woman collected stuff for years. She was eighty three when she passed and never threw anything out. I will enclose a picture when I get everything set up for the sale. Wish me luck.

  1. I feel for you; that is a lot of work ahead for you! It took us at least 6 garage sales to get rid of hubby's parents things. They kept everything too. We also had a lot carted away because it was junk, given away, etc. I estimate close to 30,000 pounds of stuff if not more was in that house of their's. Helped me to dispose of a lot of my stuff and I'm very minimalistic to begin with.

    Good luck!

  2. Oh, Thea, that is a lot of work! God bless. Sorry for the loss in your family. I do not like knick Knacks and sit around things for that reason...having to gather them and wash them down every so often, having to move them every time you dust.
